English pubs are famous around the world as they have something of their own character about them. People of all nationalities enjoy English pubs but, of course, the Brits love them as it reminds them of home. Here in Pattaya, we have a great selection of English pubs, so picking out just five is quite tricky! Here are the five we have chosen, but we would be delighted to hear your choices too!
1. Retox Bars
The first is a little bit of a get out as it encompasses so many bars within the Retox group. They have bars on Sois Honey and Lengkee, The Robin Hood at The Avenue and the Retox Outback Bar on Soi Siam Country Club. All the bars have an extensive food menu with the portions being large to say the very least! Retox also has a range of English beers and ciders, along with other local and imported beers. All bars show live sport with the English Premier League games always shown.
2. The Sportsmen
The Sportsmen on Soi 13 Pattaya Beach Road is probably to most traditional of the English Pubs on our list and is one of the longest-established in the city. The Sportsman has an excellent menu which, not surprisingly, includes pies, pasties, and other traditional “pub grub”. Again they have a selection of ciders, English beers as well as local and imported options. The Sunday lunch is arguably one of the best in Pattaya.
3. Hemingway’s
Hemingway’s is in Jomtien Complex and is a traditional English pub serving the usual pub food along with a range of Thai food and cuisines from across the world. Like all of the bars on the list, they stock a wide range of beers. Hemingway’s is a very family orientated pub and screens all live sports. As they are in Jomtien, they are ideal for people living in the area.
4. I-Rover
The i-Rover, is a well-established English style pub on LK Metro and caters for all nationalities. Their main emphasis is on sport and, as they are open 24-hours a day, this is one of the best places in the city to watch games played during the night. They have an extensive food and drinks menu with the prices being very reasonable. The i-Rover has both a pool and darts team that helps it to retain the traditional “boozer” theme after its revamp a few years ago. Although the bar is now primarily Australian owned, they do have an English Management team.
5. Caddy Shack
The Caddy Shack is located on Thepprasit Soi 8 and is an English owned bar with, as the name would suggest a golf theme. They show most live sporting events and serve excellent English food with their breakfast being one of the best in the city. The Sunday lunch is also very good, and like the other bars, they stock a wide range of English beers and ciders. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, perfect for anyone living in the area.
