There are several reasons why people choose to visit Pattaya, but one of the reasons is people coming to learn or improve at Muay Thai. Muay Thai has grown in popularity globally, and there are some excellent schools nationwide. Indeed in Pattaya, we have some of the best, with many of the coaches speaking English. The gyms and schools cater to Thai and foreign fighters and are well respected by boxers of all standards.
1.Fairtex
Fairtex on North Pattaya Road is arguably the best of the Muay Thai schools, with superb facilities and a hotel on site where fighters can stay. The gym has an extensive range of equipment, and boxers will go for a run each morning before doing bag and pad work, sparring and spending time in the gym. Fairtex targets boxers of an intermediate level or above, although everyone is welcome.
2.Sitpholek Institute of Muay Thai
The Sitpholek Institute of Muay Thai is located at the southern end of Khao Talo, Soi 18 and is another of the training camps that offer accommodation. They have excellent facilities, although not quite on a par with Fairtex their prices reflect this. Along with teaching Muay Thai, they also have an MMA hexagon for those interested in mixed martial arts.
3.Venum Training Camp
The Venum Training Camp can be found on Soi Kor Phai in South Pattaya and is another Muay Thai gym that offers other disciplines. Again, residential facilities are available so you can get away from it all and focus on your training. Of course, running, gym work, and sparring are all part of the camp, with the emphasis being on technique. Venum caters for fighters of all standards.
4.Petchrungruang Gym
Petchrungruang Gym is situated on Sukhumvit Soi 50 in South Pattaya. It is a non-residential gym that offers fighters the opportunity to train twice a day. The facilities are reasonable, and you have the option to work with a trainer or train on your own. You can pay daily or monthly rates, depending on your intentions. The school is particularly popular with children who are just taking up the art of Thai boxing.
5.Sityodtong Muay Thai Camp
The Sityodtong Muay Thai Camp is situated just off Highway 36 and may not be the most fashionable of camps, but the trainers have an excellent reputation. The centre aims more at youngsters and Thai nationals although everyone is welcome. It is one of the cheapest options that may appeal to people who just want to give the sport a try.
6.Eagle 432” Gym
The Eagle 432 Gym is situated on Soi 7 North Pattaya Road, just above Pattaya City Hall. A former World Champion gives the tuition, so it is particularly popular with Thai fighters. Once again, everyone is made to feel welcome, although the focus is placed more on improving your technique rather than beginners. However, if you want to learn the proper technique from the outset and are willing to put in the hard work, this could be an excellent option for you.
