Pattaya Rent a Car: car hire for property buyers and visiting owners

9 October 2026By Shane Ruddle

Two kinds of client ask us about car hire in Pattaya. The first is a buyer flying in for a week of viewings. The second already owns a property here, comes over a few times a year and does not want to keep a car sitting in a car park for the other ten months. We send both to Pattaya Rent a Car.

Full disclosure: I own it

The other businesses in this series belong to friends, clients and people whose work I have paid for. This one belongs to me.

I am the owner of Alan Bolton Property Consultants, and I also own Pattaya Rent a Car. That makes this the one recommendation in the series that is not independent, and I would rather tell you that in the second paragraph than have you find out later.

Here is what I will stand behind. The same business ethics and the same professionalism apply across all of my businesses. A client of the agency who rents a car should get exactly the service they got when they bought a property: straight answers, no surprises and somebody who picks up the phone. If they do not, I am the person who needs to know.

What the record says

Do not take my word for it. Pattaya Rent a Car has been operating since 2010, runs a fleet of more than 100 vehicles and, at the time of writing, holds a rating of 4.9 on Google from over 1,350 customer reviews.

  • From 590 baht a day for an economy car.
  • Comprehensive insurance included with every rental.
  • Free delivery within 10 km of the office, covering most of Pattaya and Jomtien, including to your hotel.
  • Free cancellation. Let the team know as early as you can.
  • Pay on collection, not when you book.
  • Two-day minimum rental.

Check current prices and terms when you book, because they change.

For buyers on a viewing trip

Our agents will drive you to viewings, and for the properties on your shortlist that is the best way to see them. A car of your own is for everything else, and it is often what decides a purchase.

Go back on your own. See the street at seven in the morning and again at ten at night. Find out how the traffic behaves on a Friday. A property looks different when nobody is showing it to you.

Test the life, not only the home. Drive to the supermarket, the hospital, the school, the golf course, the beach. Time the journeys. Pattaya is spread out, and two houses at the same price can be very different to live in.

Compare areas properly. In a week with a car you can get a real feel for Pratumnak, Jomtien, Wongamat, East Pattaya and Huay Yai. Without one, most visitors only ever see the centre.

For owners who visit

If you spend a few weeks or months a year at your property, renting for those periods is usually simpler than owning a car you rarely use. There is no annual tax, insurance or servicing to arrange from abroad, and no flat battery waiting for you.

Rental is available by the day, the week or the month. Ask for the long-term rate if you are staying a while. Delivery to U-Tapao Airport can be arranged for a charge of 2,000 baht, so the car is there when you land.

What you can rent

Economy cars, automatics, seven-seater SUVs, MPVs and family cars, and pickup trucks. All rentals are self-drive. Cars with drivers are not offered.

Motorbikes are rented through a sister site, Pattaya Rent a Bike. They are collected from and returned to the office, and are not delivered.

A note on our recommendations

We only write about businesses we would use ourselves or send our own clients to. In this case I own the business, and I have said so. If you rent from Pattaya Rent a Car and it does not go well, tell us. I want to hear it more than anyone.

Planning a viewing trip? Browse our properties for sale and properties for rent, or get in touch and we will line up viewings for your dates.
